Nanoparticular systems: preparation and characterisation methods

OBJECTIVES
– Acquire the state-of-the-art in polymer and lipid nanoparticle preparation techniques by bottom-up and top-down techniques
– Be able to characterize nanoparticles in terms of size distribution (intensity, number and volume) and surface charge by DLS (dynamic light scattering) coupled with zetametry
– Know how to determine the concentration of nanoparticles by NTA (individual monitoring of nanoparticles)
– Highlight the complementarity between DLS and NTA on the characterization of synthetic or natural nanoparticles, both mono- or multi-dispersed

– Learn about the preparation and industrial applications of coatings obtained by sol-gel methods
Master the chemical fundamentals of the sol-gel process
– Be able to prepare, on the lab scale, a coating using the sol-gel process
– Understand the correlation between the coating’s functional properties and its morphology and structural characteristics
